John Duncan & Bernhard Günter - Home, Unspeakable
Very quiet album from 1996, released as a CD on Bernhard Gunter's trente oiseaux label. Turn the volume way up and you'll hear plenty of threatening action lurking below the threshold, Read more...
WHAT'S THE POINT?
The intention is to promote people who make beautiful music.
The intention is to introduce you to the people who have been carving their own path...with no care for what anybody thinks.
We try not to post things that are still for sale but sometimes post things that are not easily available. If you like what you hear, then find these people and tell them how great they are.
Better still, tell them and then seek out their new releases and buy them. We add links, when they are reliable and active, so that you can keep track if you so wish.
Always go straight to the artist or the label where possible. That way, the money goes straight to the people responsible for this art. These people rely on our support to keep going and make more quality releases!
Please feel free to leave comments as you go along...at least then we know you appreciate this stuff (or otherwise) and you're not just a bunch of freeloading file collectors.
If you made this music and we have pissed you off by posting any of this, please leave a comment in the post and the offending articles will be removed.

Sugimoto & Stangl on guitars, Kurzmann on clarinet and laptop. Recorded at Off Site, Tokyo, in 2001. Released as a CD in 2002 by Musica Genera.
Two long tracks. Two acoustic guitars (played by Tetuzi Akiyama & Toshimaru Nakamura) and two electric guitars (played by Taku Sugimoto & Otomo Yoshihide). Released as a CD by Bottrop-Boy in 2003.
The final tac release (not counting a collaboration with Kapotte Muziek and All Fours that was recorded in the early 90s but released later) makes sense considering the path he'd chosen. Nearly silent recordings of events that don't produce sound: shadows moving, grass growing, the sun shining. Packaged in an elaborate sculpture of all-white materials that you had to break to get the CDR out. There wasn't much more he could have done after this, so he (seems to have) stopped. Self-released edition of 50 from 2003. Read more...
Self-released CDr from 1999 in a fantastic sleeve made from painted cloth and other materials. Read more...
Self-released CDR from 1999 in an edition of 50 copies, in a beautiful handmade package. "Micro-Sonic" is the start of Tom Cox/tac's minimal phase. His recordings became much more sparse and quiet. For fans of Ronnie Sundin, Richard Chartier or Ben Owen.
One of only three things (including a collab with Jeph Jerman and a track on a compilation, neither heard by me) by tac under his own full name. This is a 3" CDr from 2003 released on Jason Talbot's Kissy Records label in an edition of 100 copies.
Massive (though incomplete) four-disc collection of compilation tracks by Francisco Lopez. Some of these ended up on official albums, but in different versions. A fifth and sixth disc are in the works, but this ought to keep you busy for awhile. Careful with that volume, knob.
