Could you remove the 001,2,3,4 from the extension? It won't open that way.
Thanks!

Bart Nameth,  13 June 2011 at 19:48

Yeah, I couldn't open them either.

Solution still didn't work for me. Thanks anyways!

Bart Nameth,  14 June 2011 at 02:26

Actually, it didn't work for me and I still can't open any of the Black In Black Box. What gives?

badgerstump 14 June 2011 at 12:25

Hey David! Thanks for the extra info/spiel...and thanks for putting the last Fossils post on your Twitter feed!

For the people struggling to combine the parts of the box: some simple steps...

1. if it says "tape 1" "tape 2" etc...these posts can be extracted seperately.
2. if it says "part 1" "part 2" etc then they can not and need to be combined.
3. I use 7-zip (it's freeware and I think superior to win-zip etc) but the process should be similar if not exactly the same.
4. download the (on this post four) parts (don't take the numbers out.
5. highlight the parts and right-click to see 7-zip and you will be presented with options.
6. choose "extract files..."
7. Hey Presto! Parts combined and enjoy!

Anonymous,  14 June 2011 at 17:22

Yeah, I've done all of that, I've d/l multi part links many times. I also use UnRar for extraction.
I think some applications won't let you unzip once you alter the extensions out of protocol.
Maybe it's a Mac v PC issue? Looks like 7-zip is for PC/Linux only, but I could be totally wrong about this.

Bart Nameth,  14 June 2011 at 19:36

Yeah, I have a Mac and I can't get them to open.

Anonymous,  15 June 2011 at 01:50

You have to download a 7zip extractor program; they are available free; i had the same problems as everyone else & finally found a program that would download on my ancient computer. It worked on these files. Pain in the ass but worth the effort. Great post.

Opened fine for me, use 7zX and you'll have no problem.

Thank you for such a great post - excellent material.

Bart Nameth,  15 June 2011 at 17:55

Finally got Black In Black Box to open with 7zX - thanks for the help! Now if I could only get some of the other Fossils links to work I'd really be happy.

badgerstump 15 June 2011 at 19:37

Finally! :-)

The older Fossils post was on Rapidshare and I stopped holding an account with them a long time ago so they might be dead...will check...if they are, will repost as there is some quality oop in there!

J 15 June 2011 at 20:09

If you're missing any of them OOP releases just gimme a shout and I can send some over.

Bart Nameth,  16 June 2011 at 12:04

Yeah, if you could reup the Fossils collection that would be awesome as I think most of those links are dead. Thanks!
