MCA R.I.P.

Adam Nathaniel Yauch died today.

Devastated.

In 2009, they found a cancerous tumour in his left salivary gland. It was removed. It was the signal of bad times ahead.

I dismissed the Beastie Boys as a bit of a joke act in the very beginning. Paul's Boutique changed all of that! I own almost every single release and have seen them live many times...always a very special occasion!

My heart goes out to his family and Adam and Mike.

Today stinks!

Really tough news today... check Your Head hit me like a rogue wave when it came out. I wasn't into hip hop a great deal at the time, but I found the production endlessly fascinating - the fact that it was "live" music mixed with produced (samples, synths, drum machines) music really blew my 16 year old mind. It was incidentally one of the reasons I started liking electronic music when all I'd known up to that point was Thrash and Death Metal.

By Jove, this is such bad news, for me The Beastie Boys were one of the reasons that I started to get interested in hiphop and electronic music. Damnit!
