Toyozumi Unit - The Masterpiece

Kazutoki Umezu on bass clarinet and alto sax, Hiroaki Katayama on tenor and baritone sax, Haruki Sato on the old trombone with Sabu in his usual seat.

Simply gorgeous!

16bit flac rip of the (apparently) never reissued LP released on ALM-Uranoia in 1981.

  1. Very much enjoying the recent Jazz/Improv. material, many thanks for those.
(Any solo Bailey floating around would be appreciated).
Was wondering if you had any of the albums (all on psf if memory serves) by Exias-j? They put out a handful of albums around 2000,the one i remember hearing had Sabu sitting in...
    Thanks again

  2. Hi cerberus

I think the Exias-J on psf you're thinking of are the two Exias-J Electric Conception releases who were "only" Kondo Hideaki and Tanikawa Taku. I've got those and the Sabu collab. I need to check on the Exias-J that came out on Bishop Records tho'.

I've got at least 70 DB releases ... anything particular you had in mind?

  3. You're right i believe...Elec.Conc.rings a bell..must have been psf ones i heard as Bishop Records is new to me
As time rushes by,my love for Bailey solo increases;for me,his best playing inhabited its own, unencumbered space (i'm not denying the quality of duo -especially-or small group work, just my preference)
there are maybe 3 solo lps on Incus - i know i've heard Solo 2, plus Aida, maybe my favorite.
And he did one with Eddie Prevost, Oar i think; one i've wanted to hear for a long time
Anyway,i always end up rambling as Plant probably didn't say, but many thanks again
