Pengo - Alchemy & Bullshit

Outstanding collection of live and studio recordings by this powerful, yet consistently under-rated, Rochester NY psych/noise quartet. If you already like the rockish improv of No-Neck Blues Band or Sunburned Hand of the Man, the shimmering ecstatic yowl of Vibracathedral Orchestra or the fevered punk noise of Hair Police, then Pengo really ought to be on your sonic radar (sonar?). This double CDR set from Carbon Records is an ideal introduction. It came out in 2005, but includes music recorded from 2001 to 2004 with guest appearances from Ed Wilcox (Temple of Bon Matin) and Dave Cross (Coffee).

  2. Pleased to say i've had a copy of this for many moons, pretty impressive. Got it from Joe of Blackest Rainbow fame, among many goodies over the years...
Which brings me to my request for assistance/advice/possible resolution.
Of the 3 cassette live collections of MV/EE Joe has put out, the middle one,as it were, (No Floor Tour..8 cassettes),i am now bereft;i borrowed a copy, recorded it to Mini-Disc,hugely enjoyable. As with all flesh,so with tech..my trusty,20 years of service M-D player has died.Reviewing much of what i had, that is pretty much the only thing i want replace...that tour, with Mick Flower filling out the sound, was wonderful. If your good selves haveit and could post it, my gratitude would be boundless;and if not, can you point me somewhere?
    Sorry to go on,and thanks
