Various - Grind Madness At The BBC

Superb collection of Peel Sessions from bands that flew out of the Earache stable. When Earache turned up in the mid 80s, they were an absolute revelation, introducing a slew of underground UK hardcore bands to these ears! These sessions capture the main early players at their best. Later termed as grindcore...it was always punk as fuck to me.

Earache are still out there bursting eardrums at will...if this floats yer boat, check them out here

weird thing about this video, which i've seen previously, is that the blast beat only comes in near the end of the clip... otherwise the music from both bands is slow to moderately fast. having been a young grind core fan twenty years ago, that spazzed out sound was at the heart of what grind core music was.

hahaha...totally agree about the vid...i watched this go out on the Snub tv prog (yoof tv trying to be a bit "dangerous"...it didn't last long). I was always listening to Peel about the time these were broadcast. I was all about Big Black/Buttholes/SY/Swans at the time...thought the UK anarcho days had gone...then Peely played an Extreme Noise Terror session one night!!! Grind (as it ended up being called) turned a bit too metal for me later on. Anyway...

All Hail John Peel!
