Zodiac Mountain & Religious Knives - Split

On this release, Zodiac Mountain is Clay Ruby (Burial Hex, member of Davenport etc) and Wooden Wand (aka James Jackson Toth). Imagine if the Velvets and Spacemen 3 took loads of drugs (erm, OK that doesn't quite work ... right then, even more drugs) and jammed together before gouching. Yeah, it's kind of as good as that although for legal reasons I am sure that no pharmaceuticals were harmed in the making of the track. Religious Knives are ineffable.

CDr released on Heavy Tapes in 2006.

Funny story: Started dating this girl who wasn’t really into “underground/experimental” music but I convinced to accompany me to the Zodiac Mountain/Religious Knives show in Baltimore.

The show was at this horrible but great (now defunct) venue with no AC and the mixed liquor drink she ordered was weak and flat. She was NOT into it at all. Her frustration was palpable as RK we’re doing an extended drone-y jam of “In Brooklyn After Dark”. Did I mention that this show was on a goddamn weeknight?? Didn’t start till like 10pm and we both had work early the next day.

Well to make a long story short this woman and I ended up getting married 3 years later! Ten years in and she still puts up with all my musical BS. I purchased this Cdr that evening and every time I jam it I’m taken back to that sweaty hell-hole of a venue in Baltimore and chuckle quietly to myself about how lucky I was to find a woman who could power through
