This is a C45 and C40 set released on Rainbow Bridge in an edition of 23 late last year.
You really need to take a bit of time out of your life to absorb this. It covers a lot of ground and is never predictable...this will sneak right up behind you. From crawling noise to glitch to found sound to manipulated live instruments to more ambient soundscapes (there are even parts that make me dance but trust me it's not a pleasant sight). If it was to be described in a single word: cinematic.
There is also an additional track that was originally designed for the Rainbow Bridge download version. Justin has given this to us...so you can only get this tape set here.
Justin is a busy man!
Whilst recording under his own name, he also records as Dementia And Hope Trails, Dim Dusk Moving Gloom, False Flag, Ghost Volcano (with Andy Livingston and Mike Pursley), Inappropriate King Live, OK Putrid (with Kaitlyn Prochazka), Pregnant Spore, Sensible Nectar and The Human Excuse. He also runs the quite brilliant Rainbow Bridge label.
Justin makes his out of print releases available via the label site as free downloads. You not only get Justin's work but will also find work by Yellow Crystal Star, Astro, Torturing Nurse, Skin Graft, Hostage Pageant, Actuary, Julia LaDense, Red Electric Rainbow, Nundata, Andrew Coltrane, Facialmess, White Dog and a host of others with many more to come ... every single thing is well worth checking out!
Justin also blogs all over the place varying from details of new gigs and releases and his favourite things to acute investigations of his internal architecture. I've been linking his activities on the left hand side of the front page for a couple of years now...
Sometimes, in my experience, blogging can appear to be a quite solitary and questionably pointless exercise. And, then somebody tells you that they loved a particular piece of music and it becomes worthwhile again. And then sometimes you get to speak to people who make great art. And then sometimes, they turn out to be really genuine, grounded individuals ... Justin is one of them and he makes me smile!

Double CD from Madrid's Francisco López released on Blossoming Noise in 2006.
Francisco has been at the forefront of expanding the possibilities and potential of sound art for a very long time. He has toured the world several times, collaborated with over 150 artists and released on over 300 labels whilst 'trying to reach an ideal of absolute concrète music'.
This set contains live collaborations with the likes of Zbigniew Karkowski, Oren Ambarchi, Masami Akita, Joe Colley, Koji Asano and Michael Northam and source material manipulations of and entire host. Full details can be found elsewhere.
You should also visit the Sound Archive of Experimental Music and Sound Art that was created by Francisco in 2010 to allow the streaming of an extraordinary wealth of material from all of your favourite adventurers and those that you don't know (yet). Clear a few months of your life and dive in. You won't regret the journey!

LP released on A Dear Girl Called Wendy in 2011.
Lettera 22 is the work of Italian duo Riccardo Mazza (who is a member of A Flower Kollapsed and Orfanado) and Matteo Castro (aka Kam Hassah and Endless Sea and Drug Age).
Transgressive C20 from Alex Kmet reaseased on After Death Records in 2009.
Her Skin Remembers
Finally, the old bitch is dead! It's at times like this that I rather wish that I wasn't an atheist as I would find the thought of the fires warming her heels as she finds her way to her rightful resting place rather comforting!
“Some in Westminster have talked about her receiving a state funeral when she dies, which seems a bizarre sort of tribute to someone who believed the state should do as little as possible. It would be far more appropriate to allow competitive bids from private companies to run the funeral arrangements. 'And we now go over live to Westminster, where state leaders are lining up for Lady Thatcher's funeral sponsored by McDonald's. And there we see the coffin respectfully borne on the shoulders of six part-time burger-flippers dressed in the official Ronald McDonald costume, before the private cremation when the body will be flame-grilled with gherkins and a slice of cheese. It's what she would have wanted.” John O'Farrell
“For 3 million you could give everyone in Scotland a shovel, and we could dig a hole so deep we could hand her over to Satan in person." Frankie Boyle
Seriously Frankie...it's not only Scotland...and we would quite happily buy our own shovels...
Another rare and beautiful thing. Quite possibly one of the finest Hijokaidan recordings.
Originally released in 1990 on Alchemy Records.
As a result of some judicious crate diggin', here's a CD originally released on Alchemy Records in 1989.
I don't think that this has appeared anywhere before. It's a rare beast and a complete work of art!
Sometimes, time plays tricks.
I bought this LP when it came out on Blast First. That was in 1987. Shit, that was a quarter of a century ago.
I just assume that people know people like this...and then I realise it was a long time ago and there may be one person who doesn't.
Anyway, this is for that one person.
Between 1983 and 1988, the Buttholes were the greatest things in the world and changed my mind and my life forever. If I hadn't have found them, I wouldn't be who I am and this blog certainly wouldn't exist.
Locust Abortion Technician
This was a tour release that was sold in a probable edition of 20 when Toshiji Mikawa played the Grosvenor in London in 2009.
CD released on the Finnish "Anoema Recordings" label in 2007. Not sure if the label has ceased but the site has been quiet for years.
C60 on John Duncan's AQM label from 1989 featuring solo work from Toshiji Mikawa who is a member of Hijokaidan and one half of Incapacitants.
S.O.B.Kaidan on this release is Jojo Hiroshige (Hijokaidan), Yamatsuka Eye (Hanatarash, Boredoms), Naoto Hayashi (artist in his own right and co-founder of Alchemy Records alongside Jojo), with Naoto, Satoshi Yasue and Toshimi Seki of Japanese grindcore legends Sabotage Organized Barbarian (hence the S.O.B. component). Suffice to say that you get two versions of "Never Again" by Discharge so you know where this is heading.
This was recorded live at Eggplant in Osaka on January 31st 1988 (tracks 1-10) and March 21st 1989 (tracks 11 and 12) which explains the different sound quality on the respective tracks.
Released as an LP in 1988 and rereleased in 1992 and 2007, all of which are sold out and long gone! All were released on Alchemy Records. I really wish the label page had an English option...but...
